Essenscia is the Belgian federation of the chemical industry and life sciences sector. The organisation
defends the specific interests of more than 720 companies active in the chemistry, plastics, pharma
and biotech.
With a turnover of 66 billion euros and more than 92,000 direct jobs and 210,000 indirect jobs, the
sector represents the most important industrial division in the country. It accounts for one third of
all Belgian exports, one third of industry value-added and almost 60% of all private investment in
research and development (R&D).
Packaging is of the upmost importance for the business of our members, to ensure proper handling,
safe and secure transport, protection of our products or as products for some of the members of the
Essenscia PolyMatters division.
